Our Philosophy at Barks n Rec is not to train your dog…Rather it is to educate you the human. We often hear; my dog just won’t listen to me! my dog walks me! she thinks her name is no/off! Our dog bothers us while we eat at the table! Constantly goes up on furniture! Our dog goes bananas when the door bell rings! If you have caught yourself saying these or similar things, training at Barks is exactly what you need.

We offer two different course of training, the first is a basic Puppy Socialization and the other is our My Dog Pack Course. The puppy course is for dogs up to 7 months old, and the My dog Pack course is open to any age at any time throughout their lives, it’s never too late to teach the HUMAN after all ;)

Puppy Socialization and Manners

This is a 3 week course, class times are between 30-45 minutes in duration. This is an ideal way to introduce your new family member to the outside world in a controlled environment with other pups that share their age. This class helps to create the bond between dog and human, and its excellent for puppies in this crucial development stage. They/ you will learn about manors, what is and what is not acceptable, while in a light playful setting, the number of students is capped at 6 per class. The earlier you introduce/ expose them the better for the future. Course is 3 weeks and cost is $ 70.00 check our events calendar for the next available class.

My Dog Pack - Basic Obedience

This is not just another sit-stay-come-heel class like all the others offered throughout the GTA. As we stated above our philosophy at Barks is not to just ‘train’ your dog. Here at Barks n Rec we guarantee results, the MDP course will equip you with knowledge and techniques and upon completion you will have the confidence to be the Pack Leader. The MDP course was designed around everyday life, training shouldn’t stop at walk but be continued inside at home 24hrs a day 7 days a week. At our facility we do cover the every days like sit and stay and walking on a leash, in addition to this we have a home setting complete with couches dining room table and T.V’s, its just like sitting in your living room at home. Here we can assist you with the problems that arise daily at your home, this is not offered anywhere else and can be an essential tool to help you and your pooch to get on the same page. Note we are also the only Hybrid class in the GTA, at Barks n Rec we are both hands on, and reward based training, we take the best of both philosophy’s into account. This way there is no questioning who is the alpha, if you just reward all the time your dog will learn to manipulate and control you, and guess who he/she will think is pack leader then?!? Not only will you be thanking us upon completion of the MDP course but we guarantee that your pup will be thanking you, all they want is to be loved, fed, walked, and know their position in the pack. Classes are capped at 6 per class to ensure quality one on one time, the course duration is 6 weeks and each class will be 1 hour in length, at a fee of $150.00.
